About the A-League Men
The A-League Men is Australia's top-tier professional football competition and the centrepiece of the domestic game. Governed by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL), the competition has grown steadily since its inaugural season in 2005-06, establishing itself as one of the leading club leagues in the Asia-Pacific region.
The 2025-26 season features 13 teams contesting a 26-round regular season that runs from October through to May. Auckland FC, who entered the competition in the 2024-25 campaign, bolstered the league's trans-Tasman dimension and brought the total number of clubs to 13. The regular season is followed by a finals series that culminates in the A-League Grand Final, one of the marquee events on the Australian football calendar.
Traditional powerhouses such as Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC, Melbourne City and the Western Sydney Wanderers continue to drive strong rivalries across the country. Alongside the league itself, Australian clubs compete in the FFA Cup domestic knockout tournament and pursue continental honours through the AFC Champions League.
Broadcast coverage is provided through Paramount+ and Network 10, giving fans access to every round of action throughout the season. Whether you follow a foundation club or one of the competition's newer entrants, the A-League remains the primary pathway for Australian players aspiring to reach the national team and the global stage.
