Perth Scorchers. Six titles. Dynasty confirmed.
BBL|15 is done and the Perth Scorchers have claimed a record-extending sixth Big Bash League crown. No other franchise comes close. The Hobart Hurricanes fell short in their title defence after that breakthrough BBL|14 championship. The Scorchers’ finals pedigree proved too much, again.
Champions: Perth Scorchers
BBL|04. BBL|06. BBL|07. BBL|11. BBL|12. BBL|15. That is the collection. A dynasty unmatched in Australian T20 cricket. Their ability to peak when it matters in the finals series has become the franchise trademark. Optus Stadium was a fortress throughout the campaign. Six titles puts clear daylight between Perth and everybody else.
Season Highlights
The Hobart Hurricanes, defending champions under captain Nathan Ellis, were competitive all regular season. But the finals campaign fell short of their BBL|14 heights. The Sydney Sixers were perennial contenders as always. The Melbourne Stars showed genuine improvement following an aggressive off-season recruitment push.
The Rest of the Field
Brisbane Heat continued building around a young Australian squad core. Adelaide Strikers fielded one of the more balanced rosters in the competition. Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades used the campaign to blood emerging domestic talent alongside international recruits — laying foundations for what comes next.
Season Format
BBL|15 ran December through late January. Dedicated windows around Boxing Day and New Year ensured maximum exposure alongside the international Test calendar. Double-header weekends were a fan favourite. The finals series used the top-five format introduced in recent seasons. Every match broadcast live, with expanded free-to-air coverage.
Looking Ahead
Australian international player availability remained the swing factor all season. Franchises that planned around international windows and locked in quality local replacements held a clear advantage through the middle rounds.
