Critical milestone. The Toyota GR Supra has completed two days of testing at Queensland Raceway. All three homologation teams have now turned laps in their 2026 machinery. Official parity analysis sessions at Mount Panorama are next.

The introduction of the Toyota GR Supra as the third manufacturer in the Gen3 era has injected enormous excitement into the Supercars paddock. The Japanese sports car joins the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro on the grid, delivering the three-marque competition that fans and organisers have long desired.

Three Homologation Teams Put Through Their Paces

The Queensland Raceway sessions saw all three homologation teams on track simultaneously. Walkinshaw Andretti United, the homologation team for Toyota, ran the GR Supra through an extensive program of aerodynamic configurations, ride-height sweeps, and tyre degradation runs. Team principal Bruce Stewart described the two days as invaluable for gathering baseline data.

Triple Eight Race Engineering, now the Ford Mustang homologation team after switching from the Chevrolet Camaro, also completed a full program. The move from Camaro to Mustang represents a significant shift for the Banyo-based powerhouse, and the pre-season testing has been critical for establishing setups and understanding the characteristics of their new platform.

Team 18, running the Chevrolet Camaro as its homologation team, rounded out the trio. With all three manufacturers now accumulating track data, the stage is set for what Supercars hopes will be the closest and most competitive racing the series has produced.

Bathurst Parity Sessions This Week

All eyes now turn to Mount Panorama, where Supercars will conduct official parity analysis sessions on February 13-14. The Bathurst sessions are a cornerstone of the Gen3 technical regulations, designed to ensure that no single manufacturer holds an unfair performance advantage when the season begins.

Engineers from Supercars and each homologation team will analyse data across a range of metrics including straight-line speed, cornering grip, braking performance, and tyre degradation. Any adjustments to balance of performance will be implemented before the opening round.

The significance of the Bathurst sessions cannot be overstated. Getting parity right from the outset will be critical to the credibility of the championship and the integrity of every race result that follows.

Five Supras on the Grid

The Toyota GR Supra will be represented by five cars on the 2026 grid. Walkinshaw Andretti United’s TWG entries and Brad Jones Racing (BJR) will field the Japanese machinery, giving Toyota a meaningful presence from day one. While five entries is fewer than either Ford or Chevrolet, the quality of the teams running the Supra ensures it will be competitive immediately.

Sydney Season Opener February 20

The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship begins at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 20, the first of 14 rounds on the calendar. In a welcome initiative for fans, Friday entry at the Sydney round will be free, giving spectators a chance to watch all three manufacturers race wheel-to-wheel in a competitive environment for the first time at no cost.

The 14-round season stretches from February through to the crown jewel Bathurst 1000 later in the year, with venues spanning every state and territory. The calendar features a blend of street circuits, permanent facilities, and the Cathedral itself at Mount Panorama.

For fans who have waited years to see a genuine three-way manufacturer battle in Australian touring car racing, the wait is almost over. The 2026 season promises to deliver.
