SEALED A-League Takahiro Sekine signs three-year Sydney FC deal

Takahiro Sekine has signed for Sydney FC on a three-year contract from Urawa Red Diamonds. The transfer was announced by the club on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old arrives as one of the more decorated signings of the A-League window: a two-time AFC Champions League winner with Urawa and a FIFA Club World Cup participant. Primarily a winger, he can operate on either flank, at full-back on both sides or through central midfield.
“I’m incredibly excited to join Sydney FC and experience a new challenge in the A-League,” Sekine said in the club’s announcement.
Head coach Patrick Kisnorbo, in the same statement: “Takahiro is an outstanding footballer whose career speaks for itself. He can play across either wing, at full-back on both sides or through midfield, giving us outstanding flexibility.”
The signing is one of several Sydney FC moves confirmed this window, alongside Jake Hollman’s arrival on a three-year deal and a new two-year contract for defender Ben Garuccio, while Joe Lolley has departed the club.
