The 2026 tennis season is underway. The Australian swing has set the stage for one of the most competitive years in memory. Here is the complete guide to every key date and tournament that will shape the season.

The Grand Slams

The four Grand Slams remain the pinnacle of professional tennis, and the 2026 season features all four in their traditional slots across the calendar.

The Australian Open (19 January - 1 February) at Melbourne Park opens the Grand Slam season in spectacular fashion. The tournament has grown into one of the world’s premier sporting events, with prize money of A$76.5 million and three roofed show courts ensuring play continues in all weather conditions. Defending champions Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka return to Melbourne as the players to beat.

Roland Garros (24 May - 7 June) brings the tennis world to Paris for the clay-court Grand Slam. The red dirt of Court Philippe-Chatrier has been Iga Swiatek’s kingdom, while Carlos Alcaraz will look to defend his title.

Wimbledon (29 June - 12 July) is the oldest and most prestigious Grand Slam, with the grass courts of the All England Club providing a unique test of skill and adaptation. Alcaraz has emerged as the modern king of the lawns, while Barbora Krejcikova holds the women’s title.

The US Open (31 August - 13 September) in New York closes the Grand Slam season in the electric atmosphere of Arthur Ashe Stadium. The hard courts of Flushing Meadows have produced dramatic finals in recent years.

ATP Masters 1000 Schedule

The nine ATP Masters 1000 events form the backbone of the men’s season between the Grand Slams.

The American spring swing begins with Indian Wells (5-16 March) and Miami (19-30 March), two combined ATP-WTA events that attract the strongest fields outside the Grand Slams. The clay-court season features Monte-Carlo (6-13 April), Madrid (25 April - 4 May), and Rome (7-18 May) as the building blocks towards Roland Garros.

The summer hard-court season brings Canada (4-10 August) and Cincinnati (11-17 August) as preparation for the US Open. The autumn Asian swing includes Shanghai (1-12 October), before the season concludes indoors at the Paris Masters (27 October - 2 November).

WTA 1000 Events

The women’s calendar features its own marquee events alongside the shared tournaments. Doha (9-15 February) and Dubai (16-22 February) kick off the WTA 1000 season in the Middle East. The combined events at Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Rome are joined by the Canadian Open (4-10 August) and Beijing (25 September - 5 October) in the autumn.

Season-Ending Championships

The ATP Finals (9-16 November) in Turin brings together the top eight men’s singles players for a round-robin format that produces the highest quality tennis of the year. The WTA Finals (3-9 November) in Riyadh gathers the top eight women for the season-ending showpiece.

Team competitions close the calendar, with the Billie Jean King Cup Finals (10-16 November) and Davis Cup Finals (18-23 November) providing an opportunity for nations to compete for tennis’s most prestigious team trophies. Australia’s Alex de Minaur and the women’s Billie Jean King Cup team, featuring Ajla Tomljanovic and Storm Hunter, will carry the nation’s hopes.

Australian Season Focus

For Australian fans, the tennis season revolves around the January swing. The United Cup in Sydney and Perth provides early-season team competition, the Adelaide International features strong ATP and WTA fields, and the Australian Open is the crowning event. The summer of tennis Down Under attracts the world’s best players and creates an atmosphere that is unmatched in the sport.
