The Bathurst 1000 — The Great Race

The Bathurst 1000 is the crown jewel of Australian motorsport and one of the greatest endurance races in the world. Held annually at the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, the 1000-kilometre race around the 6.213km mountain circuit has been contested since 1960 and is the event every Supercars driver dreams of winning. The dramatic elevation changes, blind crests, concrete walls, and the infamous The Chase section at the top of the mountain combine to create one of the most demanding and spectacular circuits in world motorsport.

From the Peter Brock era to the modern battles between Triple Eight and Dick Johnson Racing, the Bathurst 1000 transcends motorsport and occupies a unique place in Australian sporting culture. It is the one race that every Australian knows, and the one trophy that defines careers.

The Gen3 Era

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

The Camaro replaced the Holden Commodore as the General Motors entry in 2023. Homologated by Triple Eight Race Engineering, the Camaro brought American muscle car heritage to the Australian touring car grid for the first time. Teams running the Camaro include Triple Eight, WAU, Erebus, BJR, Team 18, PremiAir, and Matt Stone Racing.

Ford Mustang GT

The Ford Mustang continues Ford's long association with Australian touring car racing. Homologated by Dick Johnson Racing, the Gen3 Mustang is a purpose-built racing machine that carries the hopes of Ford fans across the country. Teams running the Mustang include DJR, Tickford Racing, Grove Racing, and Blanchard Racing Team.
